Vanity Fare

I'm rather partial to my beauty products, and vanity cases.

Bumped into this little lass in Tesco this morning, a cute, purple vanity case of Nivea goodies, reduced from £40 to £20.

I don't think I'd have paid £40 for it; we're hardly in the Lancome/Estee Lauder/Elizabeth Arden territory.  But it would make a fab gift for any girl or woman in your life (heck, buy two if you're that way inclined).

Stocked with these five full size products: Face wash, BB Cream (medium), Wipes, Face cleanser, lip butter and a headband.

Looks lovely within my collection

 Don't you think?

How many vanity cases do you own?

  3. Hi Emma, just in case (!) any of your readers have ended up with skincare and make-up products they're not going to use, I was delighted recently to find a place where they can be sold, plus two charities that accept donations - http://allthingsbrightandgood.com/2014/10/makeup-mistakes/
In the past I've hung onto things and then finally given up and thrown them away because I didn't think anyone but close family would ever want them :-(
And then there are all those hotel toiletries and free samples...

    1. Smashing links, Judy, thanks...will have a peek into those sites as a lot of the products in my picture are unopened! It's the hotel toiletries that take up the most space :)

    1. Thanks Michelle - you can't beat a classic product....although I'm a sucker for Bath and Body Works and Sephora, because they remind me of fab US holidays.

  5. I read this post and thought "oh, that looks like a nice present for someone..." Then I saw your collection of vanity cases and thought "oh gosh, where the heck does she store all of those?!"
Seriously... where do you store all of those?

    1. Internal closetry, Single Mother Ahoy and all those smaller cases fit inside the medium cases and then the larger cases. Rest assured I have no beauty products on my Good Girl List for FC this year.

From Ashford to Plymouth (and Cornwall) in a fortnight

So, Easter: how did you spend yours?

I've just looked back over my recent photos and I think I know why this Pinot and Cadbury's egg is going down so well....we've packed in a fair bit over the last fourteen days.

Our adventures began in Ashford, Kent, via an overnight with friends in Chippenham - where I managed to leave my purse and my daughter's Kindle behind!  Time to pop on some sunnies and kick off your shoes:

Thankfully we were staying with friends in Ashford, so we shared our budget for the five days of fun.

First stop was Folkestone beach.

Chicago: 48 Hours in the Magnificent Midwest

I first discovered Chicago in 2013, and have been fortunate enough to return several times since, usually for 24 or 48 hours, so I highly recommended this HIIT city destination.

I also managed to fit in a 12 hour shopping trip layover when I visited Belize in April 2016.

A serial East Coast traveller (remember when everyone travelled to New York for a weekend break?) a work opportunity arose that saw me book a flight to Chicago for onward travel to a little student town called Champaign; four-hour return Amtrak trip, and well worth a visit for a true taste of America (they even have a freakin’ Dairy Queen).
Flights Flights are around 9 hours direct from the UK, and, depending how organised you are, range from £500-£800 for economy return.
Hotels For reasons I’m about to go into, I enjoy staying at Hilton O’Hare (the only airport hotel; handy for layovers) or the Hilton Rosemont (one MTR stop from O’Hare and an entertainment haven).  City-centre hotels are very competitively priced, sta…
